Job description
Role overview
The Creative Team sits within the Communications Program and is responsible for producing communication content that is clear, accessible and aligned to the Bureau’s strategic goals. This position is for an experienced Technical Videographer who can manage multimedia production from start to finish, including planning, scripting, filming, directing and post-production.
The work supports both scheduled communication campaigns and urgent operational updates, such as severe weather messaging. Content may range from educational stories about Australia’s climate to immediate public information during significant weather events.
What you will do
You will work with multidisciplinary teams and operate with minimal supervision to deliver timely, accurate and engaging video content. The role also involves providing expert technical advice, helping shape video capability, and contributing to planning and innovation across the Bureau’s communication output.
As a technical specialist, you will bring hands-on experience in live television broadcast production, streaming services and camera operation. You will also be expected to bring out the best in presenters and talent, while keeping production moving through troubleshooting and practical contingency planning when issues arise.
Working hours
This role supports a 24/7 news environment and requires work outside normal business hours. Regular weekend work is part of the job. A weather segment for ABC’s Landline program on Sunday mornings may be one of the duties associated with this position.
Additional information
The role must deliver content that is consistent with the Bureau’s brand, accessibility requirements and broader communication priorities.
