Bishopp is a leading regional out-of-home advertising company in Australia and New Zealand, boasting over 3,000 advertising locations. We provide significant brand visibility through our extensive roadside and airport advertising networks.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Town Planner to join our team. This role can be based remotely in Melbourne or Sydney, or from our Head Office in Brisbane. The Town Planner will be instrumental in advancing Bishopp’s development pipeline by evaluating and understanding planning requirements for new sites. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can expertly navigate complex planning regulations and is driven by achieving results that foster business expansion. The role requires a blend of technical planning proficiency and a pragmatic, commercial perspective to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and expedite project progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on planning legislation, local planning schemes, and regulatory mandates pertinent to proposed development sites.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of planning controls to identify potential opportunities, risks, and viable development pathways for sites.
  • Engage effectively with external planners, consultants, local councils, and other stakeholders to acquire, evaluate, and disseminate high-quality planning information.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across various departments to support site acquisition, development proposals, and strategic business decisions.
  • Take full responsibility for planning investigations, ensuring projects move forward towards successful commercial outcomes.
  • Undertake travel throughout Australia to inspect prospective development sites and assess their suitability.

Skills and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning, or a closely related field.
  • Accumulate a minimum of five years of professional experience in a planning-related role.
  • Have prior experience working within private consultancy, local government, state government, or a comparable planning sector.
  • Demonstrate a strong capacity for detail, with a proven ability to accurately interpret planning legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exhibit a results-oriented mindset, with a track record of managing multiple priorities and achieving objectives within set deadlines.
  • Possess excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
  • Hold a valid driver's licence.
