About the Role
Clintar Commercial Outdoor Services is seeking dependable and safety-conscious Traffic Control Workers to support roadwork and construction projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The primary duty of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient direction of traffic, thereby protecting workers, motorists, and pedestrians in active work zones. We are looking for individuals who prioritize safety, possess strong situational awareness, and can collaborate effectively within dynamic roadside environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and direct traffic flow using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, and radio communication.
- Install and dismantle traffic control equipment, including cones, signs, and barricades, adhering to provincial regulations.
- Maintain secure traffic movement through construction areas and around potential hazards.
- Coordinate effectively with team members and supervisors to manage traffic patterns.
- Observe site conditions and adapt traffic control strategies as necessary.
- Uphold compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and provincial standards.
- Promptly report any incidents, near-misses, or observed unsafe conditions.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification recognized in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Familiarity with provincial traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Capacity to maintain vigilance and focus in busy traffic conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods and work in diverse weather conditions.
- Access to reliable transportation to reach various job sites may be necessary.
Working Conditions
- Work will be conducted outdoors in all weather conditions typical of Newfoundland and Labrador.
- The role involves rotating shifts, potentially including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Work environments are fast-paced and involve exposure to moving traffic and construction activities.
