Role summary
This full-time, on-site position in Limerick is responsible for planning and coordinating daily transport activity. The Transport Planner will build efficient schedules, assign vehicles and drivers, track live operations, and respond quickly when routes or services need to change. The role supports timely collections and deliveries while ensuring the operation meets customer expectations and regulatory obligations.
Key duties
- Prepare and manage daily transport plans, routes, and schedules.
- Allocate vehicles and drivers to ensure smooth operational coverage.
- Monitor transport movements in real time and handle disruptions as they arise.
- Adjust plans to meet customer needs and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with drivers, internal departments, and outside partners.
- Keep transport documentation accurate and up to date.
- Support health, safety, and environmental compliance across transport operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost control, and service quality.
Required profile
Applicants should bring strong planning and logistics capability, along with the confidence to work in a fast-moving operational setting. Experience in transport, logistics, or waste-related operations is an advantage. Good IT skills are needed for transport planning systems, fleet tools, and everyday office software. The role also calls for clear communication, problem-solving ability, sound decision-making, and a solid understanding of transport rules, safety practices, and compliance expectations.
Qualifications
A qualification in logistics, transport, supply chain, or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
