UK Communications Manager

About the role

Canva is looking for a UK Communications Manager to help shape how the brand is seen and talked about across the United Kingdom. This position sits within a team focused on creating clear, compelling narratives that build awareness, strengthen reputation, and support growth.

The role is based in London, with a hybrid working setup. You can work remotely and also come into the Canva office in Hoxton Square, Shoreditch for collaboration when it adds value. The office environment includes front-of-house support, freshly prepared meals, and a range of workspaces designed for both teamwork and focused individual work.

What you'll do

• Own the communications strategy for the UK, setting priorities and directing a steady flow of product, technology, corporate, and consumer stories that raise Canva’s profile and local reputation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with leading UK journalists and editors through proactive outreach and long-term engagement.
• Localise major global launches and campaigns for the UK market, identifying opportunities and ensuring messages feel relevant and impactful.
• Run an ongoing storytelling program across earned, owned, and experiential channels to keep Canva visible and part of timely conversations in the UK.
• Work with leaders in the UK to strengthen their public presence through customer events, speaking opportunities, internal messaging, media interviews, and other high-profile moments.
• Support internal communications across the UK by partnering with people and leadership teams on milestones, change initiatives, and employee updates that keep teams informed and connected.

What we're looking for

• Substantial communications experience in the UK, including delivering high-impact programs and securing coverage in leading business, technology, and consumer publications.
• Strong knowledge of the UK media landscape across technology, AI, business, consumer, and culture, supported by a well-developed network of journalists, editors, and influencers.
• Excellent writing and storytelling ability across multiple formats such as press releases, media pitches, spokesperson briefs, executive messages, reactive comments, and internal announcements.
• Experience working with senior leaders and spokespeople on media appearances, keynote presentations, customer events, and thought leadership.
• Comfort working in fast-moving settings, taking ownership from strategy through delivery, and bringing clarity to ambiguous situations.
