User Experience Designer

About The Role

We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer to join a prominent national retail organization, contributing to digital product innovation in a dynamic, customer-focused setting. This role involves crafting exceptional, comprehensive user experiences for a specific product area. You will collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to translate complex concepts into straightforward, user-friendly solutions. This position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with remote work for the remainder of the week.

Job Description

As a UX Designer, you will independently manage design projects from inception to completion, shaping user experiences that align with both business goals and technical specifications. Your responsibilities will include leading the full UX design lifecycle for product features, developing user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes. You will translate user needs, business objectives, and technical limitations into effective and scalable design solutions, and provide production-ready design specifications for engineering teams. Maintaining consistency with existing design systems and UX patterns will be crucial. You will design intuitive interaction models and establish clear information architecture for multi-step user journeys, utilizing journey mapping and systems thinking to create seamless end-to-end experiences. Adherence to accessibility and inclusive design principles is expected in all aspects of your work. Collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders within an Agile framework is key, involving participation in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and design reviews. You will articulate design decisions clearly, supported by user insights, data, and business justifications. A significant part of the role involves structuring ambiguous problems into clear design approaches and prioritizing design tasks based on user impact, business value, and feasibility. Continuous improvement of design quality through feedback, iteration, and teamwork is encouraged, along with contributing to UX best practices and offering informal guidance to junior designers.

Qualifications

Required:

• Advanced proficiency in Figma for complete product design, including wireframing, high-fidelity UI design, and creating interactive prototypes.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering end-to-end UX design for product features or complex workflows.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies and collaborating in cross-functional teams.
• Skilled in interaction design for multi-step user flows and feature-level user experiences.
• Proficiency in creating user journeys, journey maps, flow diagrams, and information architecture.
• Ability to produce high-fidelity designs and detailed specifications for engineering handoff.
• Practical experience with prototyping for concept validation.
• Experience in conducting or supporting user testing and integrating feedback into design enhancements.
• Familiarity with established product design principles and scalable design systems.
• Exposure to AI-driven design considerations or tools in digital product development.

Preferred:

• Experience utilizing Jira or comparable project management software.
• Previous experience in large-scale retail, e-commerce, or consumer-facing digital environments.
• Proven ability to mentor or guide less experienced designers.
• A strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
