Job description
About the organisation
Our Future Health is the United Kingdom’s largest health research initiative, created to bring millions of people together to reshape how healthcare works in the future. With 5 million volunteers from across the country, the programme is building an exceptionally rich view of human health to support better outcomes for conditions such as cancer, dementia, diabetes and heart disease.
Role overview
We are hiring a User Researcher to help uncover the needs, behaviours and motivations of researchers, research organisations and strategic partners who interact with Our Future Health. The role sits across researcher acquisition, partnership expansion and go-to-market work, turning insight into practical improvements that strengthen adoption, engagement and long-term value for the research community.
This position will suit someone who enjoys working in complex settings and partnering closely with product and commercial colleagues to turn evidence about users into meaningful decisions and action.
Key responsibilities
- Design and run research across the full lifecycle of products and services, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, workshops and behavioural analysis.
- Investigate the goals, challenges, motivations and friction points of researchers, institutions and strategic partners to guide product and go-to-market decisions.
- Produce clear, actionable findings that improve acquisition, engagement and retention within the researcher audience.
- Use usability and concept testing to refine products, services and communications before they launch.
- Work closely with product, commercial, marketing and design teams so that user insight shapes priorities and decisions.
- Help assess products, services and campaigns, identifying what supports adoption and what needs improvement.
- Lead workshops and research playback sessions that bring stakeholders together around user needs and opportunities.
- Maintain a well-organised repository of research outputs so knowledge is easy to find and reuse across the organisation.
- Advocate for user-centred practice and help spread understanding of research methods and good practice across teams.
Requirements
- Experience carrying out user research for digital products, services or propositions, with the ability to independently scope, plan and deliver studies.
- Background in B2B research, including work with professional users, customers, clients, partners or other organisational stakeholders.
- Strong command of user research techniques, including interviews, usability testing, survey design and synthesis.
- Track record of turning research into practical recommendations that influence product, commercial or go-to-market choices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present research outcomes as clear narratives with useful next steps.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams alongside product managers, designers, marketers or commercial stakeholders.
- Familiarity with research tools and platforms used for recruitment, testing, analysis and documentation.
- A proactive, flexible approach and the confidence to manage several priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits
- Starting salary from £45,000.
- Employer pension contributions of up to 12% through a generous pension scheme.
- 30 days of holiday on a pro rata basis, plus Bank Holidays, with flexibility around when bank holidays are taken.
- Enhanced parental leave support.
- Cycle to Work savings of 25–39% on a new bike and accessories via salary sacrifice.
- Home and tech savings of up to 8% on IKEA and Currys products, with the option to spread payments over 12 months through salary sacrifice.
- £1,000 employee referral bonus for successful recommendations.
- Wellbeing support including Mental Health First Aiders, 24/7 online GP access and an Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family.
- A Central London office in Holborn, plus flexible and remote working options.
