Job description
Role overview
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Charity is hiring a Videographer to join its Clinical Photography and Design Services team. This position also includes contributing to clinical photography work as needed. The team provides specialist visual media across areas such as Dermatology, Burns, Plastics, and Cleft Lip and Palate.
The post is based in Birmingham, England, and involves work in studios, wards, outpatient settings, and operating theatres. The role supports patient care, clinical records, education, staff development, training, research, and Trust communications.
What the role involves
You will create and refine high-quality video content for internal and external Trust communications, including campaigns, staff updates, recruitment, patient information, educational materials, social media, and corporate content. You will work closely with the Communications, Engagement and Marketing teams to plan, film, and edit projects that represent the Trust’s services, values, and people.
The position also includes clinical videography for patient records, treatment planning, teaching, training, research, clinical trials, and audit. This work must follow consent, confidentiality, and governance standards.
You will use specialist recording methods such as close-up and macro filming, low-light capture, multi-camera setups, and accurate colour reproduction. The job also includes operating video, audio, and lighting equipment, carrying out post-production and formatting content for different platforms, and working safely in clinical environments while following infection control procedures.
Some situations may involve sensitive patient support, including end-of-life care, where a compassionate approach is essential. You may also be asked to help with wider clinical photography services and support the growth of the Trust’s video and communications capability.
Candidate profile
The Trust is looking for someone with a strong interest in clinical videography who is happy to work as part of a wider clinical photography team. You should be self-motivated, able to work on your own, and also bring a collaborative attitude.
A genuine commitment to working with children and families is essential. The ideal person will reflect the Trust values of being ambitious, brave, and compassionate. If you do not already hold the relevant qualification, you will be required to complete a funded Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Photography at Staffordshire University.
