Workshop Cleaning Operative

Role overview

THX Ltd is hiring a Workshop Cleaning Operative to look after returned hire equipment and help keep the yard and workshop running smoothly. The role begins with morning cleaning of ladders, podiums, and other hired items that have come back from customers. As the day progresses, you will also help inspect ladders and podiums, support unloading returning vans, and carry out general yard work.

Key duties

• Use a pressure washer to clean ladders, podiums, scissor lifts, and other pieces of equipment.
• Wash a range of hire equipment by hand when needed.
• Apply THX branding stickers to newly prepared equipment.
• Take photos and keep records of items that are extremely dirty.
• Keep the yard, workshop, warehouse, and vehicle parking areas clean, organised, and tidy on a regular basis.
• Support colleagues in the Warehouse, Workshop, and driving teams whenever extra help is needed.
• Inspect ladders and podiums as part of the daily workflow.

Development opportunities

• Training may be provided to learn how to inspect and test returned hire equipment alongside the workshop team.
• Forklift training will also be offered as part of future development.

Working pattern

You will work Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:30pm, with a 30-minute break. Overtime may be required or offered from time to time depending on customer demand.

Requirements

• A practical approach with the ability to work efficiently and in an organised way.
• Previous experience in cleaning, arranging, and maintaining tidy spaces.
• Good physical fitness and a strong work ethic as a team player.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• A positive, hands-on attitude and readiness to help wherever required.
• The ability to stay focused while carrying out repetitive tasks.
