About Bedrock Learning
Bedrock Learning is focused on high standards, commercial ownership, and meaningful educational impact. Its platform helps schools strengthen the language and vocabulary students need to access the curriculum and perform better across English, science, history, and geography. The product supports reading comprehension and vocabulary development through an adaptive approach and is used by more than 1,000 schools and multi-academy trusts.
The company aims to provide a supportive, ambitious environment where people are encouraged to take initiative, think creatively, and grow. This role suits someone who works well in a fast-moving setting, enjoys responsibility, and wants to contribute to purposeful work that makes a difference in education.
What the role involves
As an Account Manager, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of school and trust customers. Your focus will be on delivering impact, retaining accounts, renewing contracts, and expanding usage across your portfolio. The position is commercially driven, with performance measured by relationship strength, retention, growth, and net revenue retention.
You will manage accounts with a strategic mindset, maintain a high degree of ownership, and work closely with internal teams to create a strong customer experience.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of schools and multi-academy trusts from a customer ownership standpoint.
- Develop trusted relationships with teachers, literacy leads, senior leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Build a detailed understanding of each customer’s goals, pain points, and measures of success.
- Serve as the main contact for commercial, strategic, and educational discussions.
- Take ownership of renewals and work to maintain strong retention with low churn.
- Spot customers who may be at risk and act quickly to protect the relationship.
- Run renewal discussions, including pricing, product options, contract terms, and negotiation.
- Keep forecasts accurate and communicate risks and opportunities clearly.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities across your accounts.
- Help customers extend Bedrock usage across departments, year groups, and wider trust rollouts.
- Support growth in net revenue retention through retention and expansion activity.
- Use Bedrock’s dashboards and data tools to show customer impact and guide strategic conversations.
- Apply segmentation and performance data to prioritise accounts and commercial activity.
- Maintain strong CRM standards in HubSpot, ensuring activity, renewals, and opportunities are recorded correctly.
- Use data to support prioritisation, forecasting, and decision-making.
- Take personal ownership of your pipeline, results, and performance.
- Work closely with Product, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to ensure a smooth customer journey.
- Share customer insights to inform product improvements and broader strategy.
- Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and continuously improving team culture.
- Monitor retention, expansion, and engagement metrics across your portfolio.
- Look for trends, risks, and new opportunities within your customer base.
- Suggest improvements to process, strategy, and overall performance.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in account management, customer success, or sales in a commercial, target-led environment.
- Experience in EdTech is preferred, though candidates from other SaaS businesses will also be considered.
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, or higher.
- Ability to explain complex products or services clearly in both spoken and written communication.
- Direct experience owning retention and improving net revenue retention.
- Strong business awareness and confidence in negotiation and revenue-focused conversations.
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while keeping CRM records accurate.
- Experience working with senior school leaders, MAT leaders, and classroom teachers.
- Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer schools.
Benefits
- Salary of £40,000 to £50,000 per year.
- Four-day working week with full pay for 80% of the time.
- Private medical cover for you, your partner, and any children for whom you are the legal guardian, including GP access, mental health support, dental and optical cover, enhanced hospital lists, and full medical cover.
- Enhanced parental pay.
- Eye test support.
- Office closure between Christmas and New Year.
- £1,000 annual allowance for training and development.
- Opportunity to join a fast-growing business with strong progression potential.
- Company pension scheme.
- Vibrant team culture shaped by company values.
- Regular social events funded by the company.
Recruitment process
The hiring process is expected to include psychometric aptitude assessments and a recorded video interview via Test Gorilla, followed by an online interview with management. Shortlisted candidates will then attend an in-person technical and values-based interview, including a task designed to assess relevant skills and cultural alignment.
