AI / Machine Learning Engineer

Role Overview

An expanding technology organisation in Dublin is looking for an experienced AI / Machine Learning Engineer to strengthen its AI capability. This is a hands-on role focused on creating, deploying and improving AI and machine learning solutions that address practical business problems. You will work with data scientists, software engineers and business stakeholders to develop scalable AI applications, enhance model performance and help shape the wider AI roadmap.

Machine Learning and AI Development

• Create, train and release machine learning models for production use.
• Develop and tune predictive models using both structured and unstructured data sources.
• Design AI-driven products, including Generative AI and Large Language Model applications.
• Measure model performance and make ongoing improvements to accuracy and efficiency.
• Apply feature engineering, model training, validation and monitoring practices.

Data Engineering and MLOps

• Construct scalable data pipelines that support machine learning workflows.
• Build and support model deployment pipelines using MLOps best practices.
• Track production models and trigger retraining when needed.
• Maintain governance, version control and reproducibility across models.
• Improve cloud-based AI infrastructure for speed and scalability.

Collaboration and Delivery

• Work with Product Managers, Software Engineers and Data Scientists to turn business needs into AI solutions.
• Partner with stakeholders to uncover AI opportunities and deliver innovative outcomes.
• Take part in technical design discussions and contribute to AI architecture choices.
• Explain technical results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Keep up to date with new developments in AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI.
• Review emerging frameworks, models and tools that can strengthen existing capabilities.
• Contribute to internal best practices, documentation and team knowledge sharing.

Experience and Skills

• At least 3 years of commercial experience in AI Engineering or Machine Learning Engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Practical experience taking machine learning models into production.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
• Experience in NLP and Large Language Models.
• Exposure to AI application development using OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of MLOps tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow or SageMaker is an advantage.
• Experience handling SQL and large datasets.
• Understanding of vector databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation and AI agents would be beneficial.
• Experience using Git and modern software development practices.

Desirable Background

• Experience creating Generative AI applications.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex.
• Exposure to data engineering tools including Spark or Databricks.
• Familiarity with model monitoring, governance and Responsible AI practices.
• Experience working in Agile development teams.
