Role overview
This position supports the Front Store Manager in running the store’s human, physical, and financial resources. The focus is on meeting store goals by improving how merchandise moves from the backroom onto the sales floor and by maintaining strong store execution in the community.
Operations
- Keep store standards consistently in place to improve the customer experience, encourage traffic, and support store profitability.
- Work alongside the management team to ensure standards are followed at all times, including in the backroom.
- Assist the Front Store Manager with labour scheduling and use Workforce Management tools to improve labour productivity.
- Make sure staffing levels are sufficient for smooth day-to-day operations.
Human resources
- Follow established human resources standards.
- Support recruitment efforts with the Front Store Manager, including hiring for all departments except Pharmacy.
- Maintain wage administration in line with SLPH guidelines.
- Promote a positive team culture, strengthen engagement, and motivate staff in line with the company’s core values.
Qualifications and capabilities
- Strong planning, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
- Ability to plan and prepare for inventory management.
- Comfortable using judgment to control expenses.
- Provides leadership, ongoing coaching, and staff development support.
- Good time management and the ability to shift priorities quickly as needs change.
- Well-developed organization and planning skills.
Experience profile
- Background in retail management.
- Proven ability to grow the business, lead by example, and support company programs.
- Works well as part of a management team.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication abilities.
- Solid business and financial understanding.
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
