Role overview
The Assistant Scheduler supports master production planning and helps oversee finished goods, work-in-process inventory, and excess or obsolete stock. The position plays an important role in making sure inventory is available to meet customer demand while reducing the risk of distressed product. It also requires close coordination with manufacturing and sales teams to keep inventory at the right levels and to use data insights when setting target and safety stock parameters. In addition, the role helps balance available stock across the distribution network to support operating efficiency in both base business and pre-build situations.
Education, experience, and technical background
- A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university is preferred, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience; an equivalent mix of education and experience is also acceptable.
- Prior experience in a team-oriented manufacturing or supply chain setting is required.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle and related supply chain applications is expected.
- Strong working knowledge of PC tools, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access, is needed.

Qualifications

Key responsibilities
- Build finished goods plans to support customer orders, forecast demand, and stocking requirements.
- Work with cross-functional partners to keep inventory aligned with business constraints and target levels.
- Set critical inventory parameters for target and safety stock, taking supply lead times as well as warehouse and transportation limitations into account.
- Partner with demand management, manufacturing, quality, warehousing, and transportation teams to resolve finished goods issues and usage patterns.
- Track, analyze, and report important process measures and monitor assigned KPI performance for the relevant product categories.
- Spot potential material shortages versus inventory plans, create action steps, marshal the needed resources, and follow through on shortage issues.
- Own long-term capacity visibility, weekly category KPI updates, product shortage reporting, and daily ad hoc information flow among supply planning partners, including Demand Planning, Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Business Management.
- Monitor key measures such as Unsold to the Freezer, Schedule Attainment, Off Cut Production, and Order Fulfillment.
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned.
Communication and numeric requirements
The position requires the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the language used by most of the Business Management group in order to communicate clearly and effectively. The role also involves understanding spoken communication, reading graphs, flow sheets, financial information, professional articles, government regulations, safety rules, assignment sheets, and procedure manuals, and preparing reports, business correspondence, policies, procedures, and other administrative documents. Strong presentation skills and the ability to answer questions in both one-on-one and group settings are also required.
Mathematical work includes adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and percentages; calculating rates, discounts, ratios, and percentages; and interpreting financials, graphs, rates, ratios, and percentage-based data.
Reasoning and computer use
The role requires practical judgment to solve problems, follow written or verbal instructions, and decide when to act independently or involve a supervisor. Basic computer knowledge is required, along with the ability to learn new software quickly.
