Associate Business Development Lead

Role overview

Google is hiring an Associate Business Development Lead for the Google Play Partnerships team in San Francisco, CA. This role may also be based at the Playa Vista, CA campus, and applicants can indicate a preferred work location from Mountain View, NY, Los Angeles, or San Francisco.

In this position, you will act as a key operational partner for high-impact alliance relationships, helping drive developer success and day-to-day execution across the Android/Play ecosystem. The role is designed to give deep exposure to partner management, operational delivery, and cross-functional collaboration while working alongside Business Development Managers.

The broader Global Partnerships organization focuses on creating new opportunities with Google’s partners and supporting product teams with partnerships that enhance experiences across advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments, and other products. These teams also build product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market plans, and growth opportunities.

Minimum qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least 4 years in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, or 2 years of experience plus an advanced degree.
• Background in managing agreements or working directly with external partners.

Preferred qualifications

• MBA or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• 5 or more years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a comparable function.
• Experience handling external partners at scale instead of relying on bespoke support, plus internal cross-functional coordination and agreement management with legal teams.
• Comfort working in a globally scaled environment and operating with a strong grasp of day-to-day execution.
• Ability to condense complex operational challenges into clear, detailed summaries with strong attention to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage and expand strategic relationships with major mobile app developers, partnering closely with executive-level partner development managers to resolve business goals and operational challenges.
• Spot and address issues related to policy, console workflows, and Android/Play troubleshooting that may affect outcomes across alliance partners.
• Work with internal groups and external partners, including developer relations, policy, go-to-market, and legal teams, to move developer initiatives forward in line with Play OKRs.
• Help prepare and deliver benchmarking reviews and growth-focused consulting using internal tools to build strong narratives that encourage adoption of Google Play solutions and support agreement outcomes.
• Create and improve processes and policies that strengthen Google’s ability to manage partnerships at scale, including escalation paths, promotional discussions, and developer feature requests.

Compensation and benefits

The U.S. pay range for this position is $112,000 to $162,000 per year. In addition, the role includes a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Final pay is determined by role-related skills, experience, and education or training.
