Associate Scientist, Lab Digital Sciences

About the Role

This position sits within a laboratory digital sciences environment and focuses on supporting QC lab systems used across manufacturing, stability, method transfer, and non-routine testing activities. The role ensures laboratory workflows, data handling, and system configurations remain aligned with procedures, specifications, sampling plans, and reporting requirements for raw materials, water, microbial samples, biologics drug substance, and biologics drug product testing.

You will work closely with laboratory staff, IT, analytical support teams, and Quality Assurance to keep lab systems compliant, efficient, and fit for business and regulatory needs.

What You Will Do

• Maintain and update master data and static data in current and future lab systems through formal change-management steps so configured workflows remain accurate and timelines for business, project, and investigation/CAPA activities are met.
• Support the introduction of new laboratory systems by helping define requirements, contributing to configuration work, and collaborating with cross-functional teams during deployment.
• Take part in user acceptance testing, training, and go-live support to help ensure a smooth launch with minimal disruption to lab operations.
• Review change controls affecting lab systems, determine the impact on the system landscape, and identify the actions needed to support implementation, including connected systems.
• Carry out or verify change-control activities performed by others and confirm the resulting updates are correct within the lab system.
• Assess method and specification changes with subject matter experts to understand how they affect lab system data setup.
• Help implement standardization efforts and identify opportunities to improve consistency across workflows.
• Run dry tests for system enhancements, gather user feedback where needed, and support verification testing for lab systems.
• Communicate the downstream impact of lab system changes to integrated platforms such as trending systems and MES.
• Liaise with laboratory, manufacturing, analytical support, and IT teams to ensure system requirements are correct and aligned.
• Act as a key point of contact for troubleshooting during and after system rollouts, providing ongoing user support and feedback to project teams.
• Recommend and implement improvements that strengthen compliance and laboratory efficiency, including queue visibility, testing metrics, product-release support, and lean metrics.
• Help build and maintain communication tools and visual dashboards for work-in-progress tracking and team performance metrics.
• Assist in collecting and tracking team metrics.
• Draft, update, and review SOPs, work instructions, and related training materials.
• Help recruit, onboard, and train less experienced colleagues on lab system usage, and provide ad hoc support to users with questions or issues.
• Share technical updates and activity status with the team and management.
• Process user access requests for system accounts.
• Stay current on lab system functionality and apply that knowledge to improve system use and user experience.
• Support business process improvement and operational excellence initiatives, including participation in small and medium projects.
• Develop project plans and schedules, communicate progress to stakeholders, and support execution visibility.
• Contribute to resource and financial planning for smaller projects.
• Help manage day-to-day work priorities as business needs change and present updates in group or department meetings.

What We’re Looking For

The role calls for a science, computer, or engineering background with practical experience in laboratory systems and a strong ability to operate independently. Familiarity with analytical techniques, QC environments, and regulated laboratory operations is important.

Experience supporting the deployment of new lab systems, including planning, training, and post-launch support, is strongly preferred. You should be comfortable working with LIMS/LES platforms, understanding system integrations, and recognizing how changes affect connected tools.

Strong capability with Microsoft Office tools such as Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word is expected, along with sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate can interpret and apply cGMPs, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices, and can train others effectively while working across multiple priorities.

Experience and Background

• A minimum B.S. degree in a relevant scientific, computer, or engineering discipline.
• At least 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of analytical techniques is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in laboratory system rollout and adoption is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with LIMS/LES systems and awareness of system interfaces and downstream impacts.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and develop practical solutions.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle several complex projects at once while staying organized, self-directed, and flexible.
