About the opportunity
Hatch is seeking a driven Contract Administrator to join its Infrastructure team within the Highways & Bridges group in Thunder Bay, Ontario. This is a full-time contract role focused on MTO highway construction projects.

Role overview
The Contract Administrator supports the project procurement team by managing construction and service contracts during the execution phase of MTO CA assignments. The role is centered on post-award contract activity and continues through project close-out and handover.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with procurement activities related to awarding construction and service contracts.
- Manage contractual changes tied to cost and schedule impacts.
- Track project performance, including scope, budget, schedule, and progress meetings.
- Oversee payment certification and cash flow forecasting.
- Handle claims administration.
- Prepare, process, and implement contract documentation and change notices promptly.
- Administer contracts in line with contractual terms and conditions.
- Maintain contract registers and other project-specific records.
- Coordinate and follow up on deliverables from quantity surveyors where required.
- Manage securities and guarantees.
- Support project close-out and handover activities.
Requirements
- Current RCCA (Road Construction Contract Administrator) designation from OACETT, or a Professional Engineer licence with a P.Eng. designation in Ontario.
- Completion and passing of MTO T131 Advanced Issues Resolution training after January 1, 2020, or MTO T131 Advanced Claims – Dispute Resolution training completed before December 31, 2019, along with the T-131A refresher in 2020.
- Experience acting as Contract Administrator on at least three MTO contract administration assignments.
- Strong management capabilities.
- Solid negotiation skills.
- Prior experience on large construction sites.
- Good understanding of procurement processes and corporate governance principles.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute positively to team development.
- Post-secondary qualification is considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence is required.
Compensation and benefits
The base salary range for this role is CAD 64,000 to CAD 90,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
