Customer Delivery Driver

About the role

Tesco is looking to add Customer Delivery Drivers to its Castlebar team. The role puts you at the front line of the customer experience, as you will be the first person many shoppers meet when their order arrives. It is a practical, active position with plenty of variety, and no two shifts are the same. While you work independently on the road, you will still have support from managers and colleagues at the base whenever needed.

What the role involves

• Delivering an excellent home shopping experience by keeping customers at the centre of every action.
• Loading the van where needed and checking that the vehicle is roadworthy before setting off.
• Following the planned route and schedule assigned for the shift.
• Representing the company professionally in uniform and being ready to assist customers.
• Driving carefully, responsibly, and in line with all legal requirements.
• Showing courtesy to every road user.
• Greeting customers warmly and, where possible, using their name.
• Handling deliveries with care as though they were your own.

Requirements

• A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
• No more than 3 penalty points on the licence.
• A safe and considerate driving style.
• A genuine interest in helping others.
• A friendly personality, a good sense of humour, and strong communication skills.
• The ability to think on your feet and use common sense.
• A commitment to making a positive difference for customers and colleagues.
• The ability to remain composed when under pressure.

Additional information

As part of the hiring process, any offer will depend on Garda Vetting. You will also need to show proof of your current penalty points at the assessment stage. This can be obtained from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) by calling 1890 41 61 41, selecting Option 4, and quoting your driver number.

Applicants who have been disqualified from driving at any point in the last 10 years will not be considered.

If selected, you must provide your bank account details before your agreed start date, and the offer will be conditional on that being completed.

Pay and benefits

The role offers an hourly pay rate of €18.24 for new drivers, plus an additional premium for Sunday work.

Working hours

This position is available on part-time and full-time contracts of 30 to 35 hours per week.
