Role overview
Elder Research, a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH International Corporation, is hiring a motivated and customer-focused Data Analyst to support federal government clients. This position is based in Arlington, VA and is best suited to someone in the Washington, DC area, since it is a hybrid role with some in-person collaboration expected.
You will work alongside Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Data Engineers to build tailored analytical solutions. The role centers on turning complex data into practical insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you will do
- Partner with stakeholders to understand needs, ask the right questions, and shape data-driven solutions.
- Examine large datasets in structured, semi-structured, and unstructured formats using SQL and/or Python.
- Clean, organize, manage, and process high volumes of data.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports using visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Present findings, dashboards, and reporting outputs clearly to end users and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical capabilities.
What the employer is looking for
- At least 2 years of experience in data analysis or data management.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a solid analytical mindset.
- Hands-on proficiency with SQL and Python for exploring data, spotting trends, and identifying issues.
- Knowledge of databases and familiarity with how database structures are designed.
- Experience working with dashboarding and reporting tools, especially Power BI and Tableau.
- Excellent communication and people skills, including the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as statistics, computer science, economics, mathematics, analytics, data science, data engineering, business, or social sciences.
Preferred background
- An advanced degree such as an MS in analytics, computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, management information systems, decision science, or a related field.
- Location in the DC Metro area to support regular meetings.
- Experience with statistical or predictive analysis.
- Subject-matter knowledge in fraud or management.
Clearance and work conditions
This position requires a security clearance. Candidates must currently hold an IRS Public Trust clearance with Full Background Investigation. The posting also references an IRS MBI clearance requirement.
Physical expectations include the ability to remain seated for about half the workday, occasional movement within the office to access equipment or files, and regular communication with coworkers, management, and customers, which may include presentations and accurate information exchange.
