Role overview
Petron Singapore Trading Pte Ltd is looking for a Demurrage Analyst to support voyage execution, control demurrage exposure, and strengthen cost recovery across trading and shipping activities in Singapore.
Key duties
- Track logistics execution and voyage activity to monitor demurrage exposure.
- Work out and verify demurrage or despatch amounts in line with charter party terms such as Asbatankvoy.
- Examine delays and operating bottlenecks, including port congestion, terminal inefficiencies, and document-related issues.
- Spot opportunities to reduce demurrage and help implement actions that lower cost impact.
- Coordinate with trading operators, terminals, and agents to settle disputes and move claims forward.
- Review, prepare, negotiate, and close demurrage-related claims with shipowners, traders, and suppliers.
- Check invoice accuracy and confirm alignment with contract terms and time-bar conditions.
- Monitor demurrage payables and receivables to protect revenue and support timely recovery.
- Analyze demurrage trends, cost drivers, and financial exposure in detail.
- Assess operational, contractual, and financial risks linked to vessel delays and logistics inefficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with charter party obligations, contractual commitments, and internal governance standards.
- Study historical cases to identify recurring issues and suggest preventive measures.
- Support internal audits and keep records ready for compliance and regulatory review.
- Work with traders to assess demurrage exposure in deal structures and voyage economics.
- Provide cost insights that support pricing, margin improvement, and deal design.
- Advise on logistics-related contract clauses during trade negotiations.
- Assist commercial teams in recovering costs and resolving counterparty disputes.
- Support procurement contract management using demurrage performance data and analysis.
- Create dashboards and reports covering demurrage costs, claim status, and operational performance.
- Share management insights on savings opportunities and process improvement ideas.
- Help drive initiatives that improve supply chain efficiency and cut avoidable demurrage exposure.
What the role requires
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in oil and gas or commodity trading operations, shipping, or demurrage claims.
- Solid knowledge of tanker operations, charter party terms, and laytime calculations.
- Working understanding of shipping logistics, terminals, and broader supply chain operations.
