About the Organization
FHI 360 is a nonprofit focused on improving human well-being through practical, locally led solutions that last. Its work spans health, public health, education, nutrition, environment, economic development, civil society, gender, youth, research, technology, communication, and social marketing. The organization operates in the United States and in Liberia.
Role Overview
FHI 360 is hiring drivers to support the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health work under the EpiC project as well as the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) project in Liberia. The role is centered on safe, dependable transportation of staff and clients, while maintaining a strong service mindset, good judgment, professionalism, and respect for people from different cultural backgrounds.
The driver will also be responsible for keeping the assigned vehicle in good working condition, including routine cleaning, washing, and helping ensure repairs and maintenance are completed on time.
Key Duties
- Drive assigned project vehicles in line with FHI 360 procedures and Liberia’s traffic and road safety requirements.
- Keep the vehicle logbook current with accurate trip details and ensure fueling records are updated properly.
- Coordinate with the supervisor without delay whenever minor or major repair work is needed.
- Monitor fuel use and prepare accurate fuel consumption information for replenishment purposes.
- Handle daily vehicle upkeep, including oil changes, inspections, brake checks, and tire-pressure monitoring.
- Make sure all vehicle documents remain valid and organized, including insurance, log records, and required spare parts documentation.
- Take all required steps immediately if an accident occurs, following organizational policy.
- Ensure passengers comply with road safety rules while traveling.
- Contribute to planning for vehicle maintenance.

Problem-Solving Context
This position mainly deals with issues that follow established procedures and have limited operational impact. Unusual matters should be escalated to a higher authority. The role also involves spotting straightforward errors within the immediate work area that can be corrected quickly and would only cause minor disruption or cost.
Education and Experience
Applicants should hold a Liberia School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or an equivalent qualification. A trade test certificate, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record are required. Candidates need at least 3 years of relevant driving experience, and experience operating large vehicles is preferred. An equivalent mix of training and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
The salary range for this role is USD 5,000 to USD 7,000 in annual basic pay. Final pay will be decided after considering several factors, including relevant experience, education, internal fairness, market rates, and available budget.
