Role overview
This position leads the finance and accounting function for the Singapore entity, while also supporting regional reporting needs and operations across overseas locations. It is a senior, hands-on role that works closely with top management, external auditors, professional advisers, and colleagues in other countries. As the business grows, the scope may widen to include corporate areas such as HR and administration.
Location and working arrangement
The role is based in the West area of Singapore. Working hours are 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Compensation
Salary can go up to $12,000, depending on experience.
Finance and accounting responsibilities
- Run the complete accounting and finance cycle, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing activities.
- Draft and check financial statements aligned to local accounting standards.
- Oversee tax compliance and mandatory statutory filings.
- Manage external audit coordination and related deliverables.
- Track cash position and treasury activities.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulations.
Group reporting and governance
- Prepare recurring financial updates for the Japan headquarters.
- Support consolidation and group reporting requirements.
- Handle and coordinate information requests from the parent company.
- Help improve governance practices and internal control structures.
- Gather and consolidate corporate and administrative data required by the parent organisation.
Regional subsidiary support
- Work with finance teams in other countries.
- Review subsidiary performance and financial reporting results.
- Support regional finance management and reporting activities.
- Travel overseas when needed to assist finance operations and business initiatives.
Process improvement
- Partner with external accounting advisers and auditors to improve revenue recognition and cost allocation methods.
- Strengthen financial visibility and reporting accuracy for project-based software development work.
- Build and refine finance processes, internal controls, and reporting frameworks.
- Lead improvement efforts that enhance efficiency and support business expansion.
Planning and business support
- Lead budgeting and forecasting exercises.
- Drive the preparation of medium-term business plans.
- Provide analysis and financial recommendations to senior leaders.
- Support strategic decisions with business performance insights.
- Contribute to the financial infrastructure needed for future regional growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
- Practical experience handling full-set accounts and end-to-end financial closing.
- Background in a Japanese company or Japanese corporate environment.
- Business-level Japanese communication skills, both written and spoken, to work with Japanese-speaking stakeholders in Japan HQ.
- Business-level English communication skills for coordination with English-speaking stakeholders in Singapore and other subsidiaries.
- Experience in Southeast Asia or other international settings.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication ability.
- Comfort working independently in a hands-on role.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to overseas subsidiaries or regional operations.
- Experience in IT, software development, or project-based services.
- Background in management reporting, budgeting, and FP&A.
- Experience with business transformation or process improvement initiatives.
- Prior involvement in group consolidation reporting is useful, though direct consolidation experience is not required.
