Freelance Illustrator (Inside IR35)

Role overview

This assignment is for an illustration systems specialist to help shape the visual language for a major global brand that is evolving its identity. The brief is to take an existing early concept and turn it into a structured, repeatable illustration system that works consistently across digital products, marketing materials, and broader brand touchpoints.

The engagement is designed as a focused 2-month sprint with an immediate start. It is a highly flexible hybrid arrangement based in London, with a remote-first way of working and access to a central London collaboration space when in-person sessions are useful.

What you will do

• Develop and refine an existing illustration idea into a coherent system that can scale from small functional UI graphics to more detailed marketing-led visuals.
• Create clear rules around composition, shapes, colour boundaries, and how assets should be built.
• Prepare the final toolkit, including source files, usage guidance, and a set of example illustrations that creative teams can reuse confidently.

What the client is looking for

• A strong portfolio showing hands-on experience creating illustration systems or visual languages for established corporate or technology brands.
• Advanced vector illustration skills and a smooth working knowledge of Figma.
• Comfort working across both storytelling-led marketing needs and practical product/UI requirements.
• A collaborative approach, openness to feedback, and confidence working through fast iteration with stakeholders.
• Experience with AI-assisted creative workflows would be a plus.

Engagement details

Location: London, with a highly flexible hybrid setup.

Duration: Initial 2-month sprint.

Pay: £280 to £300 per day, inside IR35, paid via umbrella.

The organisation is a long-established global data and information business operating across 37 countries, with a history spanning more than 125 years. It collects, analyses, and processes data to support confident decision-making for individuals and businesses, including helping lenders access reliable information and supporting efforts to reduce fraud and identity theft.
