About Corbec
Corbec has been working in hot-dip galvanizing for more than 60 years and is recognized as a major galvanizer in central and eastern Canada. Its plants in Lachine, St. Augustin-de-Desmaures, Princeville, Dartmouth, and Hamilton are set up with different tank sizes to handle a broad range of steel products.
Role overview
Reporting to the production coordinator or supervisor, the person in this role supports the handling of customer steel parts both before and after the galvanizing process.
Racking duties
- Set up the work area based on the items that need to be processed.
- Handle components repeatedly, with weights typically ranging from 5 lb to 50 lb.
- Unpack the materials delivered by the customer.
- Assess the parts to determine the most effective way to hang them.
- Choose the appropriate hanging tools such as clamps, chains, combs, and similar equipment.
Unracking duties
- Prepare the workspace according to the parts being handled.
- Remove the parts from their hanging setup by taking off chains or cutting the pins that secure the steel pieces.
- Regularly lift and move items weighing between 5 lb and 50 lb.
- Select finishing tools and materials such as grinders, files, and different zinc paints.
- Repair or touch up parts that have quality issues.
- Arrange galvanized parts on pallets, in barrels, or on trailers.
- Package the parts for delivery back to the customer.
Requirements
- Familiarity with common hand and finishing tools, including grinders, pliers, and files.
- Strong physical fitness and the ability to perform manual work throughout the shift.
- Comfort working at ground level or on ladders while finishing parts.
- Ability to remain standing for an 8-hour shift.
- Team-oriented approach and willingness to work with others.
- Capability to lift and carry parts in the 5 lb to 50 lb range.
Terms and conditions
- Hourly pay is $22.08, plus an additional premium for afternoon and night shifts.
- The schedule is 40 hours per week.
- Shift timings are afternoon from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM and night from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Training opportunities are available directly at the plant, including forklift operator and pallet jack operator training.
