Interior Designer

Job Summary

This role involves delivering advanced interior design support for VA healthcare construction, renovation, and space planning initiatives. The work focuses on making layouts clinically effective, safe for patients, and aligned with federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Create full interior design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and finish schedules.
• Review construction drawings and work closely with architecture/engineering teams to keep designs coordinated.
• Make sure all work follows VA design standards, ADA requirements, NFPA rules, and applicable life safety codes.
• Carry out site visits, verify existing field conditions, and participate in coordination discussions with users.
• Select furniture, fixtures, and equipment that suit clinical operations and usage needs.
• Assist throughout project delivery, including submittals and construction-phase support.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a closely related discipline is required.
• At least 5 years of professional experience is expected; experience in healthcare or federal projects is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and design documentation is needed.
