Role Overview
This position involves supporting traffic control, flagging, and pavement marking activities while following established safety practices at all times. The role includes placing and using signs, barricades, cones, and related equipment to safely route traffic around active work areas.
Key Duties
- Follow all safety procedures and rules at work zones and flagging locations, including setting up warning signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other traffic-control devices.
- Drive company vehicles in line with applicable laws and safety requirements.
- Use assorted hand tools safely and according to company procedures.
- Carry out routine maintenance and daily checks on equipment as required by company standards.
- Keep facilities and vehicles clean and maintained.
- Prepare trip sheets and maintain accurate records.
- Complete tasks that support public safety, property protection, and the safety of motorists.
- Respond to emergencies when instructed by supervisors.
- Promptly inform supervisors about emergencies, vehicle accidents, worksite incidents, or any other serious event.
- At times, help transport materials to job sites or customer locations.
- Take on additional projects and initiatives that support organizational goals and outcomes.
Supervisory Scope
This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 1 to 5 years of general labor experience is preferred.
- A valid for-hire license endorsement, DOT physical clearance, and a clean driving record are required.

- Familiarity with traffic control or highway construction is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a solution-focused mindset.
- Comfort working under pressure with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Ability to follow regulatory requirements and company standards consistently.

- Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with others.
- Capability to identify issues, gather information, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- The job may require long periods of standing or sitting, loading and unloading equipment, and frequent use of hands, arms, feet, and body movement such as walking, reaching, stooping, and kneeling.
- The employee may need to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Work may involve operating specialized equipment.
- Visual requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Because the role includes travel to off-site locations, the employee must wear the required PPE for the situation, which may include a dust mask, safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, high-visibility vest, safety pants, and/or steel-toed footwear.
- Client contract requirements may also call for additional PPE.
