Laundry Supervisor

Role overview

This full-time non-management role in the Housekeeping & Laundry function is based in Accra, Greater Accra Region, Ghana, at Liberation Road, Airport City. The position focuses on overseeing laundry operations, maintaining standards, and supporting the team so that uniforms, linens, and terry items are processed efficiently and safely.

Core duties

• Keep accurate records of uniforms and linens through regular inventory checks.
• Perform a monthly count of laundry supplies and flag shortages or discrepancies.
• Notify the supervisor or manager about malfunctioning equipment, repair needs, and any safety concerns.
• Coach team members on all laundry processes, including safe work practices and proper use of machines.
• Make sure laundry requests from different departments are completed on time and to standard.
• Run, oversee, and monitor washing, dry-cleaning, and drying equipment.
• Check linens and terry items for wear, damage, or defects.
• Support management with hiring, onboarding, training, rostering, performance reviews, counseling, discipline, and employee motivation.

Any accidents, injuries, maintenance issues, or hazards must be reported promptly, and all required safety training and certifications must be completed. Professional appearance, confidentiality, and protection of company property are essential.

Quality and physical demands

The position calls for a focus on quality standards, efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost savings. It also includes visually checking tools and equipment for defects and being able to remain on feet or move around for long periods during a shift. The work may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or placing items up to 25 pounds without assistance, as well as working in narrow, confined, elevated, uneven, slippery, or stair-access areas and performing repeated bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, and similar movements.

Preferred qualifications

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. Candidates should have at least 1 year of related work experience and at least 1 year of supervisory experience. No license or certification is required.
