Role overview
This full-time Maintenance Planner position is based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, at the KCGM site under the MPA contract. The role reports to the Contract Supervisor and is a residential Kalgoorlie position.
The planner/scheduler is responsible for building and sharing 7 to 14 day maintenance plans, working closely with the workshop and customer so that scheduled work is completed efficiently and production requirements stay aligned.
The roster is Monday to Friday, day shift, with 12.5 hours per day including an unpaid meal break.
Key duties
- Follow all safety processes closely, complete required CCOs, and promptly record incidents and near misses in accordance with company policy.
- Maintain AMT records on a daily basis, manage machine-hour reporting, secure purchase orders, support and train the team as the AMT subject matter expert, take part in reviews, and suggest improvements to maintenance strategy.
- Support ongoing improvement by spotting better ways of working, implementing agreed recommendations, and encouraging the use of Caterpillar Production Systems within the maintenance group.
- Build weekly maintenance and repair schedules, allocate resources, manage backlog, prepare work packs, maintain safety controls, track asset condition and component life, and flag emerging fleet issues to strengthen reliability.
- Work in close coordination with the Maintenance Planner and Contract Supervisor to keep strategies aligned, support smooth handover of component work, check the quality of closed work, and ensure AMT data remains accurate for decision-making.
Experience and capabilities
- Background in administration, coordination, or scheduling roles.
- Well-developed organisation and time management skills, with the ability to handle several priorities at once.
- Exposure to equipment maintenance is helpful, though not essential.
- Ability to operate independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment and building constructive working relationships.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Confidence when engaging with, negotiating with, and collaborating alongside internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data and assess information accurately.
