Role overview
The Mechanical Engineer will design, refine, and enhance mechanical systems, assemblies, and products that support engineering and manufacturing activity. The position applies core engineering principles, technical analysis, and teamwork with other departments to make sure solutions meet design intent, safety obligations, and customer needs. The role reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and may work closely with Fabrication, Assembly, Maintenance, Quality, and Production groups.
Primary responsibilities
- Review technical requirements and translate them into conceptual layouts and bills of materials.
- Create and improve mechanical systems, parts, and equipment to match project specifications.
- Develop engineering drawings, models, and supporting technical records.
- Write test methods and run performance checks on different assemblies.
- Analyze designs to confirm they meet required performance and reliability targets.
- Study product behavior and introduce changes that improve durability and efficiency.
- Work with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to support manufacturability and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Investigate new materials, techniques, and technologies to support innovation and continuous improvement.
- Offer technical guidance to internal teams, customers, and vendors as needed.
Additional duties
- Help define and maintain engineering standards and best practices.
- Contribute to cost-saving and productivity improvements through design changes.
- Support and mentor junior engineers or interns.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least 7 years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
- Preferred hands-on experience with AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Experience converting P&ID drawings into engineering projects and estimating project cost.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical design, materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Ability to carry out engineering analysis and validate design decisions.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and project coordination abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
- Familiarity with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
Physical requirements
- Ability to work at a desk or computer for long periods.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs when handling prototypes, components, or test equipment.
- Ability to move through production, fabrication, and testing areas as needed, including climbing ladders in some cases.

- Mainly office-based, with regular time spent in the shop floor, yard, or testing spaces.
- Regular collaboration with teams across office and production environments.
