Museum Curriculum Developer (Part-time)

About the Role

The City of Guelph is seeking a part-time Museum Curriculum Developer to join Guelph Museums within the Culture and Recreation Department of Public Services. In this role, you will report to the Curator of Guelph Museums and help shape curriculum-based youth programming that is engaging, inclusive, and accessible. The position supports learning experiences that align with Ontario elementary and secondary curricula while advancing truth and reconciliation, anti-racism, diversity, inclusion, and inquiry-based learning.

What You Will Do

• Help design, coordinate, and deliver museum programs for youth that are centered on curriculum needs.
• Work with City departments, neighbourhood groups, and community organizations to strengthen youth-focused museum services.
• Assist curatorial and visitor experience staff with planning and delivering curriculum-based youth programming.
• Research and create new youth programs that support truth and reconciliation, anti-racism, diversity, inclusion, and inquiry-led learning.
• Support equity, diversity, and inclusion priorities within the Museums’ Interpretation and Education Policy.
• Serve as a subject-matter resource and help apply policies and operating practices for curriculum-based youth programming.
• Provide positive leadership by coaching and mentoring support staff and volunteers involved in program delivery.
• Collaborate with curriculum-focused and youth-serving agencies to build communication, coordination, and partnerships.
• Carry out other related duties as needed.

What We’re Looking For

The preferred candidate is an emerging educator who understands and actively supports truth and reconciliation, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion. Experience developing and delivering inquiry-based school programs in a museum environment is important for success in this role.

You should also bring strong communication skills, good organization, research ability, and comfort using technology. A post-secondary background in Education, History, Museum Studies, or a similar field is preferred. Experience from either paid work or volunteer roles in curriculum-based and youth-oriented organizations is considered an advantage.

Pay and Application Details

The hourly wage for this role is between $22.70 and $23.89.
