CREGG is recruiting a Process Development Engineer for a leading medical device manufacturer in Limerick. This role offers a strong opportunity for someone with a background in manufacturing, R&D, or process engineering.

The position focuses on working closely with R&D and manufacturing teams to create reliable, high-capacity production processes for medical device manufacture. A key part of the work involves introducing a micro catheter into the production line, along with multiple projects tied to large automation equipment used to assemble and test medical devices. The role will cover the full journey of process and equipment builds, from early concept through implementation.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and improve process flows that deliver high yield and strong capability.
  • Refine process equipment and technology to support efficient, repeatable transfer into manufacturing.
  • Partner with R&D engineers to develop new medical device designs and move validated designs into production.
  • Work with equipment vendors on design, build, and on-site implementation activities.
  • Contribute to equipment design enhancements and upgrades to support new product introductions.
  • Prepare documentation for preliminary and manufacturing stages.
  • Write and execute validation and qualification activities.
  • Drive ongoing quality improvement across processes.
  • Coordinate with relevant teams on the development of current processes and future needs.
  • Take ownership of commissioning new microcatheter manufacturing technology, production ramp-up, validation work, continuous improvement, and identification of new development opportunities.
  • Review new equipment, processes, and chemicals with EHS to assess environmental impact and reduce or eliminate negative effects.

Requirements

  • A Level 8 degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline such as manufacturing, mechanical, electronic, or production engineering.
  • At least 4 years of prior experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
