Role overview
Arnett & Burgess Energy Services is looking for an experienced Project Controller to support construction and project management teams across the full project lifecycle. This position contributes to planning, engineering and design, construction, commissioning, and final completion activities.
The scope of work is wide-ranging and calls for a person who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating with multiple stakeholders. The role requires strong capability in schedule control, cost tracking, reporting, change management, communication, stakeholder coordination, and document control. The successful candidate should be ready to contribute immediately, work within existing systems, and help develop new tools or processes when project needs change.
Responsibilities
- Support the Construction Manager, Project Manager, functional leads, and wider project team with project controls tasks.
- Coordinate between field operations and corporate controls with limited supervision, while organizing site processes that support controls activities.
- Collect information and prepare reports for internal use and client distribution on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Set up project performance measures and monitor them throughout execution.
- Attend project and stakeholder meetings, and prepare and share meeting notes and action items.
- Assist with project planning and scheduling, including schedule update reviews as needed.
- Track, review, and analyze internal and external costs, including oversight of the A&B purchase order register.
- Manage change control processes, including setup and support for related systems and workflows.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in project controls practices.
- Handle contract administration duties.
- Take on additional tasks as required.
Requirements
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.
- Project management credentials such as PMP, CAPM, or CET are considered an advantage.
- EIT or P.Eng. designation is also viewed as an asset.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant project experience in oil and gas, pipeline construction, or infrastructure.
- Proven experience supporting project controls and related functions.
- Ability to build and maintain spreadsheets, project schedules, and summary reports.
- Strong planning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
- Experience estimating oil and gas and/or pipeline construction work.
- Capable of handling several priorities and deadlines at the same time.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- High attention to detail and quality.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Project and MS Excel; knowledge of P6 or Tilos is an advantage.
Work conditions
This is primarily a Blackfalds-based role, with time split between the office and remote construction sites. Accommodation allowance (LOA) will be provided when working at a field site. Overtime may be required.
