About the Organisation
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is a Queensland Government body focused on opening up land, speeding up housing delivery, and supporting planning and infrastructure projects that contribute to economic growth. Its work helps create safe, secure, and affordable homes while supporting vibrant communities across Queensland.
Backed by the Economic Development Act 2012, EDQ has distinctive planning and approval powers that help remove barriers from complex developments and bring prepared land to market. The agency’s aim is to help Queenslanders access homes, create more jobs closer to where people live, and foster communities that reflect the Queensland lifestyle. EDQ works with government and industry partners to attract investment, enable employment, and deliver measurable outcomes for the state.
About the Role
EDQ is seeking a Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager to manage a varied portfolio of infrastructure and development projects aligned to Queensland’s housing supply and economic development goals.
As part of the Housing Supply & Delivery team, you will steer projects from planning and procurement through to delivery and handover, while working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and government stakeholders.
Key Duties

- Handle procurement activities, contract administration, and consultant coordination.
- Create and maintain project budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and delivery plans.
- Manage approvals, operational works, and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Track project risks, construction market conditions, and delivery performance to support successful outcomes.
- Prepare strong project updates and recommendations for senior decision-makers.
- Contribute to housing and land activation initiatives across Queensland.
About You
This opportunity is suited to a driven, solution-oriented Senior Project Engineer ready for progression, or an experienced Project Manager who performs well in a dynamic environment and enjoys overseeing complex work from concept to completion.
You should bring sound project management ability, commercial awareness, and the confidence to develop productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
What You Should Bring
- Proven background in delivering infrastructure, civil, construction, or development projects.
- Strong experience in contract management, procurement, and project governance.
- Ability to manage consultants, contractors, and multiple stakeholders at the same time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to influence decisions.
- Solid commercial and financial management capability, including budgeting and cost control.
- A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on delivery.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Property, or a related field are highly regarded.
Why Join EDQ
- Flexible and agile working arrangements.
- Generous leave entitlements and 12.75% superannuation.
- Learning, development, and career progression opportunities.
- Modern workplaces designed to support collaboration.
- An inclusive environment that values diversity and cultural capability.
- Access for you and your family to hundreds of gyms, pools, and fitness facilities nearby at very low cost.
