Role overview

DHL Express is hiring a permanent Courier for its Northampton Service Centre (NN4 7BW). This is a frontline position where you will handle deliveries and collections, keep to time-sensitive commitments, and provide a consistently strong customer experience while representing the brand with professionalism and a positive, solutions-focused attitude.

The shift pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, from 07:00 to 17:00.

Key responsibilities

• Complete deliveries and collections in line with customer expectations and agreed time-definite service levels.
• Serve as a professional representative of DHL and deliver a dependable, high-quality experience at every customer touchpoint.
• Develop good working relationships with customers and look for ways to support business needs.
• Maintain a proactive, customer-first mindset throughout the day.
• Organise and prioritise your daily route so all stops are completed on schedule.
• Adjust plans as operational demands or route requirements change.
• Work effectively under pressure while meeting tight deadlines and service commitments.
• Keep a high standard of accuracy, structure and attention to detail.
• Perform vehicle inspections and ensure shipments are loaded, handled and transported safely.
• Record working time and driving hours accurately in accordance with regulations.
• Follow DHL policies, procedures and security requirements at all times.
• Handle parcels and shipments of different sizes and weights while following manual handling guidance.
• Ensure all paperwork and data entry are completed correctly.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate is reliable, organised and comfortable working independently in a busy, fast-moving environment. You should be adaptable, able to stay calm under pressure, and confident in building strong relationships with customers and colleagues. A strong sense of service and a commitment to DHL’s CIS behaviours — Can Do, Passion, Speed and Right First Time — are important.

Experience and skills

• Previous experience in a delivery or customer-facing role is preferred; multi-drop experience would be an advantage.
• Good route planning ability and strong geographical awareness.
• Clear communication and practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to obtain, or already hold, a digital tachograph card.
