About The Role

The Data Science Intern will be instrumental in transforming data into actionable insights. Working closely with the Data Science and Business Insights teams, this role supports the development of analytics solutions, data integration, and the evaluation of data-driven opportunities. The internship provides exposure to AI-enabled processes and advanced analytics that inform strategic decision-making. The intern will engage in projects covering data preparation, exploratory analysis, predictive modeling, and business intelligence, gaining practical experience in a dynamic real estate and healthcare setting.

• Aid the Business Insights team in advancing Welltower’s data and analytics initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and validation of predictive models and analytical solutions.
• Assist with data preparation, feature engineering, and supporting machine learning workflows.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and data mining using contemporary analytical techniques.
• Support the integration and assessment of both internal and external data sources.
• Analyze model outcomes and articulate insights to guide business decisions.
• Contribute to efforts aimed at enhancing data quality, governance, and collection procedures.
• Process, cleanse, and verify data utilized in reporting and analytics projects.
• Conduct ad-hoc analyses and present findings clearly to team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and identify data-driven solution opportunities.

• Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated passion for data science, analytics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence, evidenced through coursework, projects, research, or previous internships.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical concepts.
• Experience with programming languages and data science tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or comparable platforms is advantageous.
• Foundational understanding of machine learning principles and predictive analytics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A keen interest in real estate, healthcare, finance, or related industries is beneficial.
• Academic coursework in statistics, machine learning, data analytics, or predictive modeling is preferred.
