Role overview
A growing Australian manufacturing company is building out a new Digital Innovation team, and this position will be the first dedicated data specialist in that function. Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, you will help define the future data approach, modernise a legacy environment into Microsoft Fabric, and contribute to a major Dynamics 365 transformation.
This role is ideal for someone who has already led data platform modernisation work and enjoys balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will work closely with teams across Sales, Operations, Service, Finance, and Technology to organise and govern data, create reporting and analytics solutions that can scale, and develop predictive models that support business decisions.
What you'll do
- Guide the move from an established data warehouse setup to Microsoft Fabric
- Design and implement scalable data models, pipelines, and reporting solutions
- Create forecasting, optimisation, and machine learning models
- Turn complex datasets into clear, actionable business advice
- Collect business requirements, engage stakeholders, and encourage adoption of new processes
- Strengthen data quality, governance, and self-service reporting maturity
What we're looking for
- Proven experience delivering data platform modernisation initiatives with Microsoft Fabric and/or Snowflake
- Strong capability in Python or R, SQL, and data engineering
- Hands-on experience with data warehouses, ELT/ETL pipelines, and semantic models
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Comfort working in a practical, changing environment where you help shape the roadmap
- Exposure to Dynamics 365, Power BI, Azure, or manufacturing/industrial settings will be considered an advantage
Additional information
The role is based in Clayton, Victoria, and is office-based during probation. After that period, one work-from-home day per week is available.
Applicants need to be based in Melbourne and must have unrestricted Australian working rights. Sponsorship is not available.
