Boots UK is hiring a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Southend-On-Sea. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.
The role is centered in the store’s healthcare department, where you’ll build trusted relationships with patients by listening to their needs, welcoming them, dispensing prescriptions, and ensuring medicines are supplied safely. You will also use your healthcare knowledge to guide patients toward informed choices about their health and wellbeing.
This position is based in a UK store. Applications for remote working will not be considered. Candidates outside the UK will only be progressed if they can evidence the relevant UK qualifications and right to work.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescriptions while maintaining safe medicine supply, including ordering, labeling, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
- Work alongside other healthcare professionals in store to help deliver pharmacy services.
- Offer care and medicine-related guidance to patients, escalating questions to the Pharmacist when needed.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
- Stay current with in-store innovations and follow operational processes.
- Help patients manage repeat prescriptions effectively, improve adherence, and reduce medicine waste.
Development and technology
You will work with changing in-store technologies and new systems that modernize traditional dispensing, improve patient safety, and free up more time for patient interaction. Regular updates and training will be provided to build your healthcare knowledge, along with opportunities to progress into Pharmacy Technician training or a store leadership role.
