Role Summary

This is a full-time, on-site Dredge Mate position in Jiddah. The role supports the Dredge Master in running the dredger safely and efficiently, with responsibility for deck operations, monitoring dredging progress, and making sure work follows the approved operational plan and safety rules.

Key Duties

• Assist with navigating, positioning, and moving the dredger as required.
• Oversee deck crew during dredging, anchoring, mooring, and maintenance activities.
• Track equipment performance, draught, soundings, and dredge output.
• Keep accurate records and operational logs.
• Take part in safety drills and toolbox talks.
• Raise hazards, incidents, and any equipment issues without delay.
• Work in coordination with engineering, deck, and shore-based teams to keep operations running smoothly.
• Support compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous sea-going experience as a Mate, Officer of the Watch, or in a comparable position, ideally on dredgers, workboats, or other specialist marine vessels.
• Relevant maritime certifications for a Mate/Officer role, such as an STCW-compliant Certificate of Competency, Basic Safety Training, and GMDSS endorsement where applicable.
• Solid understanding of dredging activities, vessel navigation, mooring, anchoring, and safe deck operations.
• Proven ability to guide and coordinate deck crew with a strong focus on safety, communication, and teamwork.
• Knowledge of marine safety rules, permit-to-work processes, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
• Ability to observe operating parameters, maintain detailed logs, and work to SOPs and checklists.
• Basic technical or mechanical awareness to identify irregularities and liaise with the engineering team.
• Good spoken and written English; other languages are helpful in a multicultural workplace.
• Physically prepared to work offshore or on board, including long shifts, changing weather, and rotating schedules.
