Role overview
This position is a stepping-stone leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys teamwork, enjoys serving customers, and can help create a positive in-store experience. The role supports day-to-day store operations across assigned locations while preparing the associate to move into a Store Manager position in the future.
Core responsibilities
- Partner with the Store Manager to keep operating routines and procedures aligned with company expectations, and help retrain associates when needed.
- Support staffing reviews, store processes, and asset protection activities while sharing ideas to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Promote excellent customer service and contribute to a friendly, team-focused store culture.
- Assist with inventory readiness and Door to Shelf activities.
- Provide adaptable support for daily store needs, including recovery work, PTO/LOA coverage, and special assignments.
- Help with office setup, clipboard/logbook maintenance, and other supervisory tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
- Travel as needed, up to 50% of the time, to assist store operations.
- Take on additional duties requested by the District Manager or Regional Director.
Training and growth
The company emphasizes development and leadership growth. This role includes comprehensive training and leadership development, with the goal of preparing the associate to advance into a Store Manager role within 12 months.
Skills and experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational instructions such as merchandise schematics is required.
- Prior store management experience in retail, grocery, or a drug store setting is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Capability to lift up to 55 lbs from floor level to above shoulder height, along with frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repeated lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation, is required.
- Must be able to work a flexible full-time schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities are required.
- Good relationship-building skills are essential.
