Over time, the company expanded into multiple locations including Macon, Atlanta, Jackson, Statesboro, Sanford, and Plain City, and it continues to grow through fabrication services, hard bid, design-build, negotiated contracts, and fee-based projects. The organization emphasizes safety, quality, and a commitment to attracting, developing, and keeping strong talent.

Role Overview

The Facilities Custodian is accountable for the upkeep, operational readiness, appearance, and day-to-day condition of assigned corporate and affiliated sites, with the Home Office as the primary focus. The role also supports weekly janitorial and routine maintenance needs for the Valdosta Division, Ace University and Engineering, and Fabrication. The goal is to keep buildings clean, safe, secure, and presentation-ready for executive spaces, training areas, and business operations.

This position involves practical maintenance work, vendor follow-up, custodial oversight, and grounds care. It requires sound judgment, initiative, and consistent ownership of facility conditions and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the interior and exterior of assigned buildings clean, orderly, and professional every day, excluding landscaping tasks that are handled by outside vendors.
  • Complete minor repairs such as patching drywall, touching up paint, adjusting fixtures, doing light carpentry, and handling general maintenance needs.
  • Watch building conditions closely and flag repair or maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
  • Maintain parking lots, walkways, entrances, signs, and exterior surfaces.
  • Use blowers to clear parking areas, sidewalks, and other hardscape surfaces when needed.
  • Check that all indoor and outdoor lighting is working properly across offices, conference rooms, training rooms, parking lots, pathways, exit lights, and building exteriors.
  • Replace bulbs and resolve minor lighting problems.
  • Arrange for qualified electricians to handle electrical repairs when work is beyond routine scope.
  • Keep lighting systems safe, reliable, and consistent in performance.
  • Clean offices, restrooms, kitchens, conference rooms, training spaces, and shared common areas.
  • After meetings, trainings, and events, restore kitchens and break spaces by cleaning, resetting, restocking, and returning them to a polished standard.
  • Prepare conference rooms and training rooms before and after use so they remain ready for the next activity.
  • Track custodial supplies and bring in deeper cleaning help when necessary.
  • Handle routine cleaning of interior windows and glass surfaces.
  • Observe the condition of exterior windows and building façades.
  • Coordinate specialized exterior window and façade cleaning for elevated or multi-story areas that require rappelling or other special access methods.
  • Act as the local contact for exterior cleaning vendors.
  • Oversee landscaped areas and grounds by checking vendor performance and addressing any shortcomings.
  • Carry out light landscaping duties where appropriate.
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance or service work with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control, landscaping, window cleaning, copier, and other facility vendors.
  • Review vendor work for quality, completion, and compliance with company expectations.
  • Escalate facility concerns, trends, or issues to leadership as needed.
  • Help move furniture, set up offices, and reconfigure workspaces.
  • Support meetings, trainings, and events with room setup and post-event reset.
  • Handle seasonal tasks such as putting up and taking down holiday decorations.
  • Keep tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory organized and safely stored.
  • Provide facilities support to other local properties when assigned.
  • Travel between sites as required to maintain consistent facility standards.
  • Work with the Safety Department to ensure safety systems remain inspected, tested, maintained, and functional, including fire alarm and detection systems, emergency and exit lighting, AEDs, and emergency generators or backup power systems.
  • Support schedules, testing, documentation, and corrective actions tied to facility safety systems.
  • Promptly report safety-system deficiencies or compliance concerns to leadership and the Safety Department.
  • Verify that security systems are working properly, including cameras, access control, door hardware, locks, and secured entrances.
  • Coordinate testing, maintenance, and repairs for security equipment with the proper vendors.
  • Monitor entry points and raise any security concerns.
  • Identify facility-related hazards and help correct unsafe conditions.
  • Follow company safety policies in all facility-related work.
  • Make sure any specialized or regulated work is completed only by appropriately qualified vendors.
