Front End Developer / Engineer (TypeScript React)

Role overview

This is an opportunity to join a well-funded start-up in investment management, backed by secure capital and partnered with an established hedge fund client. In this front end engineering role, you will help shape the direction of the product while building advanced user interfaces for trading technology.

You will own technical workstreams, create data-heavy dashboards, and contribute to client-facing interfaces used in a fast-moving fintech environment. The role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, values modern engineering practices, and is comfortable working with emerging technologies.

Working arrangement and location

The position is based in brand-new offices in central Newcastle and is fully onsite. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, with some flexibility. The office environment includes excellent city and countryside views, shower facilities for cyclists and walkers, and a social, diverse team with many colleagues having recently moved to the area.

What the role involves

• Taking responsibility for technical projects from concept through delivery.
• Designing and building rich user interfaces and dashboards for trading systems.
• Working independently within a small team to deliver high-quality front end solutions.

Candidate profile

Applications are expected from candidates with a strong academic background, including a minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science from a Russell Group university and top A-level results. You should also bring commercial experience with TypeScript and React, a collaborative mindset, and a strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals.

A solid grasp of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and best practices across the full development lifecycle is important. The employer is looking for someone motivated by problem solving, teamwork, and the chance to make a real impact in a growing start-up.
