Frontend Engineer (Post Grad, Remote-First)

About the Role

Over99 is developing a next-generation crypto gaming platform focused on speed, reliability, security, and a smooth player experience. The team is hiring a post-graduate frontend engineer who enjoys building interactive web products and wants to contribute to real-time gaming surfaces, wallet-related flows, and performance-conscious features.

This position is remote-first, with Toronto, Ontario, Canada as the base location. The work style is built around trust, independence, flexibility, and continuous learning.

What You’ll Work On

• Ship and refine frontend functionality across the player web app and game-related interfaces.
• Use React, Vue 3, TypeScript, Vite, and related modern tools to create fast and dependable user experiences.
• Build engaging flows for wallets, account balances, gameplay, promotions, and live updates.
• Partner with senior engineers on architecture, reusable UI building blocks, state handling, and performance tuning.
• Implement real-time client-server interactions using Socket.IO, WebSockets, and event-based updates.
• Contribute to game-oriented UI with animations, sound, timing, physics, and responsive interaction patterns.
• Work closely with product, design, backend, and QA teams to deliver polished features end to end.
• Use Cursor IDE, LLMs, MCP-based integrations, and custom AI-assisted development tooling as part of daily engineering work.
• Help improve observability by learning tools such as Datadog to better understand frontend behavior and user impact.
• Write tested, maintainable code and take part in reviews, CI/CD processes, and engineering standards.
• Grow through mentorship, ownership, and exposure to production-scale crypto gaming systems.

Skills, Tools, and Experience

• Strong command of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern frontend development practices.
• Hands-on experience building applications with React, Vue, or another contemporary frontend framework.
• Good understanding of component design, state management, API integration, and responsive interfaces.
• Interest in high-performance interactive products, including motion, live updates, and client-server communication.
• Comfort working with or learning AI-assisted engineering workflows through Cursor, LLMs, and related developer tools.
• Working knowledge of Git, code review processes, CI/CD, and current development tooling.
• Strong problem-solving ability, careful attention to detail, and willingness to learn from senior teammates.
• Ability to stay organized, communicative, and accountable in a remote environment.
• Exposure to React Query, Vue Query, Pinia, Vuex, or similar data/state management libraries is helpful.
• Experience with Socket.IO, WebSockets, animation systems, canvas-style interaction, physics engines, sound, or game UI is a plus.
• Familiarity with Node.js APIs, observability tools like Datadog, Docker, AWS, or cloud deployment is advantageous.
• Background in crypto, gaming, gambling, or iGaming products is considered beneficial.
