About Richmond State Hospital
Richmond State Hospital is a public behavioral health center run by the State of Indiana and one of six state psychiatric hospitals within the Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction. As part of an integrated network of state psychiatric hospitals, it serves adults from across Indiana as the Eastern Center of Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Located in northwestern Richmond, the campus provides a calm and peaceful setting. Services include psychiatric and co-occurring treatment for adults regardless of race, religion, sex, gender identity, age, disability, national origin, or ability to pay. The hospital provides individual and group psychotherapy, chaplain support, family therapy and education, psychoeducation groups, rehabilitation therapies, and patient employment opportunities. Unit-based programs are complemented by campus-wide specialty groups. The hospital is also recognized for evidence-based medication prescribing aimed at reducing the risks of polypharmacy and improving clinical outcomes.
Compensation
The starting annual salary for this role is $26,312. Compensation may be adjusted based on education and relevant work experience.
Key duties
- Keep restrooms, sinks, and mirrors clean and sanitary.
- Sweep, mop, wax, and maintain floors.
- Dust and shine furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows, blinds, and walls.
- Restock and distribute items such as paper towels, toilet tissue, cups, and cleaning products.
- Request, distribute, and properly store supplies.
- Report maintenance issues and equipment repairs that are needed.
- Be present at the assigned worksite as required; attendance onsite is an essential part of the job.
Other duties, responsibilities, and tasks may be added or changed at any time.
What you need to succeed
To perform well in this role, you should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Practical knowledge of how to care for and operate cleaning tools such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, polishers, and buffers.
- Understanding of different cleaning and sanitizing products and how they are used.
- Ability to follow both written directions and spoken instructions.
- Ability to help train new team members and complete required reports and order forms.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

This position may be assigned supervisory responsibilities depending on agency needs.
