Role overview

A major international business is hiring a permanent Internal Auditor to join its UK audit team. This position is suited to someone who wants broad exposure to operational auditing across multiple sites and sectors, with regular contact with both operational teams and senior leaders.

The working setup is hybrid, with one day each week required in the Leeds office. The role also involves travel of up to 20% across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.

What you will do

• Carry out operational and head office audits across the UK.
• Test important controls covering areas such as cash handling, inventory, goods receiving, and accounts payable.
• Complete audit fieldwork, record your observations, and prepare clear audit reports.
• Share recommendations with management and agree practical action plans.
• Assist with ad hoc reviews, investigations, and support needed for external audit work.
• Help with risk assessment activities and the planning of audit assignments.

What we are looking for

• Hands-on prior experience in internal audit is required.
• Good knowledge of internal controls, audit approaches, and risk management principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication, along with solid stakeholder handling skills.
• Analytical ability and experience reviewing operational data.
• Preparedness to travel around the UK as needed, with some overnight stays.
