Janitor

Overview

SSC Services for Education is seeking full-time janitors to help maintain clean, safe, and orderly learning environments. The work supports schools by keeping facilities sanitary, presentable, and free from distractions for students, staff, and visitors.

Location

Greencastle Community Schools, 1002 Mill Pond Lane, Greencastle, IN 46135. Additional openings may also be available at other sites within the school district.

Schedule

This is a full-time role scheduled Monday through Friday. Hours can vary, and more detailed shift information will be shared during the interview. Full-time and part-time flexibility may be available to accommodate different scheduling needs.

Pay

The hourly wage for this position is between $15.25 and $15.50.

Role Summary

In this role, you will handle general and heavy-duty cleaning tasks to keep buildings orderly and sanitary. Duties include floor care, rug shampooing, wall and glass cleaning, and waste removal.

Responsibilities

• Remove and dispose of trash using approved procedures and infection-control practices.
• Dust and damp-mop floors according to established cleaning methods.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed for thorough cleaning and return items to their proper places.
• Clean assigned spaces using approved materials and equipment, including sanitizing all surfaces and following the eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces to support a safe and clean environment.
• Identify areas that need attention and take initiative to complete cleaning tasks.
• Carry out assignments given by the supervisor.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and county rules and guidelines.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors, and shampoo carpets as required.
• Work cooperatively with the team and maintain professionalism with customers, coworkers, and others.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Previous janitorial experience is preferred, though it is not mandatory.
• Ability to carry out essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Willingness to follow cleaning procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
• Some positions may require Florida Level 2 background screening.
