About the Role

The company is looking for a motivated AI/ML Software Engineer to join its expanding team. This opportunity is well suited to someone at the early stage of their career, a current student, or a person re-entering the workforce who wants to gain practical experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

This is a part-time remote position. Candidates must be available five days a week for approximately four hours per day, with working hours arranged flexibly.

The role is intended to provide practical exposure, mentoring, and real project experience across modern AI/ML and cloud-based tools. The company values curiosity, initiative, and a genuine interest in learning more than extensive prior experience.

Responsibilities

• Help build and improve AI and machine learning solutions.
• Assist with preparing data, running model experiments, and carrying out testing tasks.
• Support cloud deployments and simple automation work.
• Work with teammates to diagnose issues and improve system reliability.
• Take part in learning activities that strengthen technical skills.
• Implement solutions involving artificial intelligence and generative AI.
• Fine-tune and train large language model applications.
• Contribute to retrieval-augmented generation platforms.
• Test AI-based business automation solutions.
• Deploy and support cloud-native applications on Azure and AWS.
• Help demonstrate AI governance and compliance practices to clients.

Requirements

• Must be an Australian citizen.
• Must currently hold, or be willing to obtain, an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.
• Should be able to write basic scripts and work with functions and data structures.
• Should have experience using development tools such as Git.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts is expected; Azure or AWS knowledge is preferred.
• Interest in or exposure to AI, machine learning, and large language models is important.
• Needs a positive attitude, strong curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
• Should be comfortable working independently in a remote setup.
• Good communication and collaboration abilities are required.
• Previous professional experience is not necessary.
• Must be available Monday to Friday for about four hours each day.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to candidates who are early in their careers, currently studying, or returning to work, provided they are Australian citizens and eligible for an AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.
