About the Role
Helic & Co is looking for an early-career Software Developer who is eager to contribute to a collaborative engineering environment. This role involves building features, resolving defects, and supporting the ongoing development of core products while learning modern software engineering workflows through close mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Create clean, maintainable, and testable code for new product features with support from senior team members.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and correct issues flagged by end users or quality assurance.
- Take part in peer code reviews to strengthen code quality and learn development standards.
- Contribute to agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Develop unit and integration tests to improve reliability and performance of the codebase.
What You Should Bring
The ideal candidate should have a strong grounding in at least one mainstream programming language, such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#. Familiarity with front-end basics like HTML and CSS, along with an introductory understanding of databases using SQL or NoSQL, is also expected. Basic hands-on use of Git and GitHub for source control will be important. Just as valuable are curiosity, clear communication, and a cooperative approach to teamwork.
Additional Information
This position is based in Canada and is a full-time onsite role. It is suited to someone who wants to build practical experience in a production environment and grow with guided support.
