Position Summary
The Laundry Aide supports the daily laundry operation by making sure residents’ laundry is handled promptly and in line with applicable laws, regulations, and company standards. This position reports to the Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor.
Qualifications
The employer prefers candidates who have completed high school or an equivalent program. Previous experience in healthcare is also preferred.
Key Duties
- Gather, separate, wash, dry, fold, and deliver bed linens and bath linens for residents.
- Identify soiled articles that need stain removal or special treatment.
- Help with residents’ personal laundry, including using residents’ own machines when needed.
- Press or iron clothing items when requested.
- Tag residents’ personal laundry and linens as instructed.
- Clean dryer filters every two hours.
- Keep enough laundry supplies on hand for continuous 24/7 use.
- Inform the supervisor when supplies are running low.
- Maintain laundry carts in clean, usable condition.
- Store equipment, tools, and supplies properly.
- Return any found belongings without delay.
- Escalate repair issues or equipment problems to the supervisor.
- Report any unusual resident behavior or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Pass along resident concerns or complaints to the supervisor.
Additional Requirements
The role calls for someone who enjoys working with seniors and can provide warm, attentive service. The ideal candidate should be dependable, trustworthy, courteous, and able to work cooperatively with residents, guests, and coworkers. The position also requires sound judgment when independent decisions are needed, knowledge of laundry procedures and the regulations that apply in a post-acute care environment, and competence in housekeeping, patient rights, safety, and sanitation. Professional relationships, confidentiality, policy compliance, harassment prevention procedures, and completion of required compliance training are all expected.
