Licensed Aircraft Engineer Level I - Structure

Role overview

Qatar Airways is looking for a Licensed Aircraft Engineer Level I - Structure to join its Technical Engineering team in Doha. The position focuses on carrying out aircraft maintenance work that supports flight operations, including maintenance checks and related duties within the scope of the license. The role calls for strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable aircraft operations.

What you will do

• Organize assigned work in a practical and efficient way, using tools and equipment in line with company maintenance procedures.
• Review existing methods and standards, and suggest improvements wherever current processes can be made more effective.
• Take responsibility for approving work completed by mechanics and make sure tasks meet company and customer expectations, including dispatch reliability and acceptable levels of deferred defects.
• Ensure aircraft maintenance work meets the required standards and is completed according to established policies and procedures, while supporting both internal teams and external customers.
• Apply approved solutions to technical issues within the limits of authority and help keep aircraft and component serviceability aligned with schedule demands.
• Guide technicians and aircraft mechanics and provide on-the-job training when required.
• When overseeing others, ensure workmanship remains at the required quality level and that the correct tools are used for each task.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should have either a high school, vocational, or diploma qualification with at least 5 years of relevant job experience, or a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of related experience.

Required technical background

• A diploma in aircraft maintenance, a relevant trade or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification, or a degree such as B.Eng. or BSc, or an equivalent qualification in aircraft engineering.
• Ability to arrange the required equipment and a heavy vehicle driving license, as needed for maintenance duties.
• Capability to identify the tools and equipment needed for each task.
• Comfort with using mathematics to solve work-related problems.
• Ability to control and operate equipment or systems.
• Strong management skills, including delegation, workflow planning, mentoring, coaching, training, and building teamwork within the crew.
