직무 설명
About the team
The Physical Security Engineering team is responsible for the design, rollout, and ongoing reliability of the systems that safeguard OpenAI’s people, workplaces, and critical infrastructure. The team supports office campuses, warehouses, labs, and data centers worldwide, working closely with IT, Facilities, Construction, and Security Operations to keep every site aligned with safety, reliability, and compliance expectations.
The team also manages security architecture from early site evaluation through construction, commissioning, and long-term operational upkeep.
Role overview
OpenAI’s corporate presence across APAC is growing fast, and the physical security technology stack must scale with the same level of consistency, resilience, and attention to detail. The Corporate Security Technology Group owns the access control, video surveillance, and supporting infrastructure that help protect OpenAI’s people, offices, and events. In this role, you will serve as the regional technical lead for designing, running, troubleshooting, and continuously improving those systems across APAC.
You will work closely with CorpSec, Workplace/REW, IT/NetEng, and security integrators to launch new offices, keep systems healthy, resolve regional escalations, and improve how physical security solutions are documented, supported, and used. The role calls for deep expertise in Windows operating systems and servers, networking and switching, and systems integration support, along with the ability to trace issues through the full stack from endpoint hardware and network layers to servers, databases, and enterprise security platforms.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the day-to-day administration and technical support for APAC physical security systems, including access control, video management, and related infrastructure.
- Support new office deployments by reviewing plans, coordinating with vendors, confirming system readiness, and ensuring a smooth handoff into operations.
- Investigate and resolve complex problems across Genetec, Windows OS and servers, databases, networking, switching, integrations, and on-site hardware.
- Work with IT/NetEng on connectivity, identity, infrastructure, firewall rules, VLANs, switch setup, IP planning, routing, and device connectivity requirements.
- Support integrations between physical security tools and related enterprise systems, such as identity, access management, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Develop and keep current drawings, site records, operating procedures, and training materials for administrators and end users.
- Reduce operational overhead by strengthening standards, documentation, monitoring, vendor transitions, and repeatable support processes.
Success in this role
APAC sites will launch and operate with dependable, well-documented physical security systems. Regional partners will have clarity on technical ownership, urgent issues will be diagnosed quickly, and vendors will be held to a consistent quality standard. This hire is expected to raise the operating bar across APAC while helping the global team build more repeatable deployment, support, integration, and troubleshooting practices.
Non-negotiable outcomes
- Preventable gaps in access control, video coverage, or system reliability should not occur because of unclear ownership, weak vendor follow-through, or poor technical handoff.
- Regional incidents, after-hours escalations, and new office launch issues should be resolved more quickly and with less friction.
- Technical ownership must be strong across Windows OS and servers, networking, switching, physical security platforms, and integration dependencies.
- Close collaboration is required with CorpSec Operations/Protection, Workplace/REW, IT/NetEng, and regional vendors.
- Documentation, training, and handoff practices for administrators, end users, and cross-functional partners should improve.
- The regional support model should scale with OpenAI’s APAC growth.
