Role overview
This junior analyst role sits within the Project Finance team in New York and supports the origination, structuring, and execution of project finance transactions across the US and Canada. The position focuses on building presentations, tracking internal pipelines, and contributing to the documentation and financial modeling work that supports awarded deals.
Key duties
- Assist senior team members with underwriting, due diligence, and financial analysis for project finance opportunities in infrastructure and energy.
- Support internal product and credit applications and keep related materials up to date.
- Prepare client pitch materials and market-facing presentations.
- Draft information memoranda and lender presentations for lead-role transactions, and help coordinate bank meetings.
- Support the team through technical and legal diligence, and help move transactions through structuring and closing.
- Track in-process and closed transactions, manage portfolio reporting, and coordinate with finance on fee recognition.
- Maintain internal reports and distribute them to the relevant teams.
- Participate in client meetings when appropriate.
- Help with loan-closing workflows, research, and the use of internal tools.
- Join due diligence and legal meetings and support ongoing transaction monitoring.
- Work with the Madrid team as part of the broader deal process.
Skills and work style
The role calls for a solid grasp of project finance fundamentals, including underwriting, risk analysis, financial modeling, financial statement review, and derivative instruments. Strong Excel and PowerPoint capability is essential, and familiarity with Bloomberg is an advantage. The position also requires clear communication, strong presentation skills, teamwork, and the ability to perform well under tight deadlines.
Qualifications
A degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is expected. At least 1 year of experience in corporate or investment banking with exposure to project finance is required, or experience in construction/energy firms connected to project finance. Formal credit training is considered a strong advantage. Fluency in English is mandatory, and Spanish is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The expected annual base salary for this New York position is $100,000 to $110,000. Offers are not usually made at the very top of the range. Final pay will depend on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and any applicable certifications, along with market and organizational considerations. In addition to base pay, the role includes a generous benefits package and eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
